Essex is as close to a Cockapoo as they come, according to his DNA! This charming little guy is about 5 years old and weighs around 10 pounds. He's a clever pup who can amuse himself for hours with his toys and loves to race around the yard. While he enjoys playing with other dogs, he can sometimes get a bit boisterous, racing after them and barking. For this reason, he would do best as an only dog or with one very laid-back canine companion. Essex would be a wonderful addition to a home with an older individual or couple. He walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a tendency to occasionally mark other dogs' beds. He's a very smart and assertive little dog who will need an experienced owner to guide him. When he was rescued, Essex was very matted and had to be shaved down to the skin, but his coat is now growing back beautifully!
Ideal Home
Essex would do well in a home with an experienced owner. He would prefer to be the only dog or have a very mellow dog companion, and he is not suited for homes with children under the age of 8.

Training & Support
Essex is pretty well house-trained but occasionally marks other dogs' beds. He is described as a "precocious and alpha little dog" and will need an experienced owner to help him navigate his assertive personality.
