Hola! My name is CIRILO, and I'm a handsome Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) mix with a heart full of love! I'm approximately 1.5 years old and weigh around 38.6 lbs. I'm a social, affectionate, and intelligent boy who absolutely loves being around people. I've shown myself to be gentle, playful, and loving with both humans and other dogs. While I can be a little shy and cautious at first, I approach new situations with curiosity and a positive attitude. With slow and careful introductions, I quickly settle in and become an incredibly loving companion! My previous family had to return me due to apartment restrictions, but I've spent the last year in my foster home and am now ready for my second chance at a forever family in Canada!
Ideal Home
I thrive with adopters who understand working breeds and can provide plenty of daily physical exercise, mental enrichment, and consistent training. I love having a job to do, whether that's hiking, dog sports, advanced training, or puzzle-solving. An active home that's committed to helping me channel my energy in positive ways is ideal. I'll need a patient adopter who will advocate for my space and allow me time to get comfortable with new people and situations. I do live with a cat and get along well with them, showing curiosity and friendliness. I also get along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoy playing with them while also knowing when to relax. My adopter needs to be prepared to train me through any prey drive behaviors that may arise.
Ongoing Health
I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will be tested for Heartworm and other issues before flying to Canada and will come with proof of all my vaccines and test records. Please note that it is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after adoption, and these costs are the adopter's responsibility.
Training & Support
I am pretty good on leash and am calm during walks, seldom barking. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners as I adjust to new surroundings, and a well-fitted harness will help. I am a work in progress with housetraining, so frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will be key to my success in a new home.
