Tom

Tom is a handsome fellow who joined us in late August 2021. He was surrendered by his previous owner who felt he was "too much" for her energy-wise. Despite his owner's feelings, Tom was good with medium and large dogs and children as young as 5. He lived both indoors and outdoors with his previous owner since he was a puppy, but unfortunately, he was not house-trained. The animal shelter where he previously resided felt he would benefit from a rescue placement due to being fearful and stressed. Tom has never shown any aggression and has never bitten anyone, but he is an insecure dog who needs time to build trust with his handlers. He previously shared a kennel with a female Doberman mix and they got along well, but he hasn't been as successful kenneling with other dogs since her adoption.

Ideal Home

Tom would do best in a home where he can take his time to feel secure and build trust. Given his past experiences, a patient and understanding environment is key.

Tom is neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

Tom was not house-trained by his previous owner, so this will be a key area for his new family to focus on. He is an insecure dog and needs time to build trust, so gentle guidance and positive reinforcement will be essential for his success.
