About Navajo (Nav)
Navajo, a charming 6.5-year-old, 75-pound Pitbull mix, is a sweet, affectionate, and easygoing pup ready to bring the perfect balance of playful energy and relaxed companionship to your home. He's as happy joining you for a daily walk as he is curling up nearby for a cozy evening. Navajo enjoys playing with other dogs, preferring one-on-one or small group interactions over large, chaotic packs. He generally reads social cues well but may occasionally need gentle redirection if he gets too excited. He's done well with dogs of all sizes but tends to be most comfortable with dogs his own size or smaller, and proper introductions help him succeed with larger dogs. He attends daycare regularly and has made great progress with his doggy manners. On leash, Navajo is polite and non-reactive, though he might pull a little at the start of walks when excited. Once he settles in, he's a very pleasant walking partner. He is fully house-trained and crate-trained, and can be left loose in the house without any signs of separation anxiety. At home, he's calm, chill, and easy to live with. Navajo loves meeting people and greets strangers with friendliness. He has done well around children and has shown no concerns, likely thriving in a home with kids, though interactions with very young children haven't been fully tested. He would do best in a cat-free home, as he has shown a strong prey drive and fixation toward cats. Navajo adores toys and will often greet you at the door proudly carrying his favorite stuffed animal. He's also a champion cuddler who loves being close to his people. He's an excellent car rider, a favorite at the vet, has no issues with stairs, and loves cozy, unusual nap spots like laundry baskets or bathtubs. Navajo has shown no resource guarding with food, treats, toys, or people.
Ideal Home
Navajo would thrive in a stable, moderately active home that enjoys daily walks, occasional outings, and lots of affection. He doesn't need an ultra-active lifestyle – just consistent exercise, love, and companionship. He could do well as an only dog or with a compatible canine friend. Navajo would do best in a cat-free home.
Ongoing Health
When he arrived in foster care, Navajo needed dental work and had several damaged teeth removed, including his canines. The good news: his remaining teeth are healthy, and he still happily chews his favorite bones without any trouble.
Training & Support
Navajo is generally well-behaved and easygoing. He may occasionally need gentle redirection if he gets a little too excited during play.
