Chunky

Chunky is an 8-year-old Beagle-Basset Hound mix with a heart of gold. He's a wonderfully sweet and mild-mannered hound who truly embodies the term "couch potato."

Chunky's journey began when he was surrendered from a hoarding situation and spent a long 8 months waiting for his forever home. Thankfully, he found his way to us when he was just 1 year old, and for the past 7 years, he's been our most cherished best friend and companion. He absolutely adores sleeping, but also enjoys a good game of tug-of-war! While he likes his walks, he's not a fan of the rain.

Ideal Home

Chunky is great with cats and older children. However, he can be leash reactive with other dogs. He's not aggressive and can learn to coexist with other pets if given the chance to meet them gradually and on neutral territory. He loves people more than anything and might jump up in excitement, but it's always in a friendly greeting. Chunky would likely thrive in a home where he can be an "only child" or with a family that understands his need for a more settled environment. Due to his current skittishness around babies, he would do best in a home without very young children.

Chunky is a senior dog and as he has gotten older, he has become skittish around babies.

Training & Support

Chunky can be leash reactive with dogs and may jump up in friendly greetings. With patience and understanding, he can adjust to new introductions.
