Zac

Zac is a handsome 5-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix who weighs about 60 pounds. He's a neutered male who was rescued from euthanasia at a county shelter. We knew we had to save this nervous guy when we saw him in the play yard! Zac is the definition of a loyal companion, possessing a perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back cuddles. He enjoys spending time with other dogs, happily joining in for a game before deciding he's had enough and heading over to his favorite spot right next to his people for some well-earned relaxation.

Zac loves people and thrives on attention, belly rubs, and gentle pets. He gazes lovingly into your eyes while soaking up all the affection you can give. He's also known to be quite the conversationalist, especially if dinner or treats are running late! His adorable, vocal personality will keep you smiling every day. He enjoys toys, loves treats, and has shown no signs of resource guarding. Zac is house-trained, crate-trained, and happily trots into his kennel when there's a tasty treat waiting for him.

Ideal Home

Zac's ideal home is one where he won't spend long periods alone. He enjoys having canine companions and seems happiest when there's another dog around or people nearby to share life with. Whether you're a family or a single adopter, if you're looking for a devoted dog who will shower you with love and happily keep you company, Zac is ready to fill that role. His foster believes he'd do well with a family willing to continue teaching him not to jump up when he gets excited.

Ongoing Health

Zac underwent FHO surgery due to a previous injury. This procedure removed a damaged part of his hip, allowing the surrounding support to take over movement, resulting in greater comfort. He has healed well and is back to his "normal" self. No further medical intervention or medications are needed.

Training & Support

Zac is house-trained and crate-trained. He is calm on walks and does not react to passing dogs. While he hasn't lived with young children, his foster believes he'd do well with a family willing to continue teaching him not to jump up when he gets excited.

• If you are a potential match, you will be connected with the placement for a video chat.
• Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved.
• If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
• Our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview.
• This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
• Virtual home visit, personal, and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.

Transporation

Zac is currently in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, and can be transported once an adopter is approved. Transport is included in our adoption donation.
