About Reese Cup

Reese Cup is an approximately 3-year-old, 19lb female chihuahua mix with a curly tail. She's a super sweet and easy-going, medium-energy gal who loves to curl up next to you for a belly rub. Her foster mom says she is one of the most loving and sweet dogs with people. She is good with other dogs after giving them a short time to get to know each other. Reese Cup is house and crate trained. She’s a quiet girl who rarely barks and she sleeps through the night. She loves sleeping with her people at night, and will sometimes climb into bed for a daytime nap. She walks well on a leash but loves a yard to roll around and sunbathe in. She is also still learning how to play. She will tug on a rope toy or play with another dog, but only for a few minutes and then she wants her human’s attention. She’s good with dogs and cats (cat curious) and hasn’t met a human she doesn’t give a kiss to. She is super food motivated and loves getting treats; a slow feeder bowl has helped curb her enthusiasm during meal times. When it’s time for a car ride, she doesn’t get excited or anxious during the trip. Solid Gold Pets (sister company of Zesty Paws) is offering a one-year supply of dog food to Reese Cup's adopter.

Ongoing Health

When Reese Cup came to Lil Rascals, it was noticed that she was limping on her right back leg. She has luxating patellas in her back legs, with the right leg being the worst of the two. This condition is when the kneecap pops out of its normal groove, causing a “skipping” gait. Her rehab vet has her on a daily home exercise routine to strengthen the ligaments surrounding the knee; her forever person will need to continue these easy 10-minute exercises forever to keep her muscles strong to help support her joints. She is currently taking an anti-inflammatory and joint supplements. She can enjoy light play and short walks, but high impact activity should be avoided. Reese Cup is also heartworm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill protocol. Heartworm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. She can enjoy regular activities.

Training & Support
