Gouda is a fun-loving, water-loving gal with a lot of personality and a loyal heart, ready for her forever home! This young Shepherd mix, weighing 53 lbs, was found with her siblings and rescued into a loving foster home where she's been acing house manners. Gouda can be described as a laid-back companion who enjoys lounging and stretching, but also gets bursts of energy for happy zoomies. She's not super into traditional enrichment but absolutely loves treats! The beach is her happy place, and she enjoys car rides, telling herself they'll be over soon. Gouda is eager to be your bestie, a loyal follower who will offer comfort with her quiet presence.
Ideal Home
Gouda is looking for a nice suburban home with peace and quiet, and no cats. She's a fairly low-maintenance dog who just wants to be around her person and needs someone with patience and understanding as she moves at her own pace. She would be fine in a home with kids; she usually just ignores younger children but is very friendly with older, more respectful children. She prefers walks in quiet neighborhoods and is more at peace away from busy city life.
Ongoing Health
Gouda had her right hip replaced and now takes daily carprofen and some supplements. She needs her ears cleaned regularly to prevent infections.
Training & Support
Gouda is house-trained, crate-trained, and does pretty well on a leash, understanding leash pressure. While she can get amped up around triggers, she's recovering more quickly lately. She has been attending group classes and is doing well around other calm dogs, responding well to "leave it." She's super smart, eager to learn, and has excellent recall when there are no triggers around. She needs slow introductions to new dogs, and her foster mom supervises her play to help de-escalate if she gets overexcited.
