Darcy is a one-year-old, spayed female Great Pyrenees mix with a gentle, quiet, and initially shy demeanor. She's a true sweetheart who gets along well with other dogs in playgroups.
Ideal Home
We're looking for a home that understands the Great Pyrenees breed. This includes being aware that they can be stubborn, prone to barking, and overly protective. They also cannot be trusted off-leash, and their strong instincts mean they cannot be trained to boundaries. It's essential that all family members are in agreement about bringing Darcy home now and are prepared for the commitment. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. While we don't have rigid criteria, we consider factors like breed experience, yard suitability (a visible fence is preferred), and other animals in the home. We typically avoid placing Pyrs in same-sex households, as they often do not do well with other dogs of the same sex.
Ongoing Health
Darcy is up to date on all age-appropriate core vaccines, has been tested for parasites, heartworm, and Lyme disease, and is microchipped. She will be spayed upon finalization of her adoption.
Training & Support
Darcy is a bit shy initially and will need patience and a calm environment to help her settle in. As Great Pyrenees are prone to barking and can be stubborn, consistent guidance and understanding of the breed's characteristics will be key to her success. A contractually required basic obedience course completion within six months of adoption is part of our process.
