Oso is a 5-year-old German Shepherd/Hound mix with soulful eyes and a heart of gold. He doesn't give his affection easily, but when he chooses you, he becomes your most devoted companion. He is a gentle and quiet boy who absolutely thrives on affection and will remind you daily of his adoration. Oso is a wonderful, low-maintenance roommate who enjoys relaxing, leisurely walks, and car rides. He is incredibly easygoing with other dogs and exhibits excellent canine manners, though he is also perfectly content to be your one and only spoiled companion. Oso has shown great promise around cats, politely minding his own business and giving them space. He's also an excellent co-pilot, happy to join you on any adventure! While Oso can be a little shy when meeting new people and appreciates being given space to warm up, he is an incredibly gentle and loving dog. With patience, kindness, and treats, his personality will bloom, revealing a sweet boy with impeccable manners and a deep capacity for love. Oso is looking for someone willing to give him a chance, and in return, he'll offer a bond built on trust, loyalty, and unconditional love.
Ideal Home
Oso would do well in a home that understands his need to warm up to new people and situations at his own pace. He enjoys a calm environment and would be happy as a solo companion or with other dog-friendly dogs. He has also shown promise with cat-savvy felines.
Ongoing Health
Oso is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative. He has also been tested for heartworm.
Training & Support
Oso has been assessed by trainers and has received behavior modification as needed. He has also participated in group training and socialization playgroups.

Oso is located in Texas. Transportation is available nationwide through our rescue-run USDA-certified transport system, with drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
