Meet Thistle! Thistle is a very special dog who came to us nearly a year ago, along with several other dogs, from a suspected backyard breeding situation. She arrived with her two pups, both of whom have now found their loving forever homes. Thistle has made incredible progress in blossoming from her shell at her foster home, though she remains quite independent. She prefers to be in her human's eyesight rather than in their lap, but she will seek out pets on her own terms. Her vocalizations are her way of expressing excitement for the day ahead or for your return. Thistle enjoys playing fetch with stuffed toys in her fenced backyard and has mastered the doggie door for easy access to go outside. She sleeps comfortably in bed with her foster mom and other dogs, though she occasionally gets up and down to have her own space. She tolerates brushing and nail trims very well and did exceptionally well during a recent grooming appointment.
Ideal Home
Thistle would thrive in a home with another confident dog who can help her feel more at ease and learn the ropes. Due to her shyness, she has not been leash trained and is adept at scaling a 4-foot fence. While she met her foster's grandchildren and kept her distance, she didn't seem distressed by their presence in the same area. A patient person who understands her unique personality and can provide a safe, loving environment will gain a devoted, lifelong companion.
Ongoing Health
Thistle is up-to-date on all her vaccinations and has been spayed.
Training & Support
Thistle is not yet leash trained. She has mastered the doggie door and is comfortable using it for potty breaks and outdoor relaxation. She is also well-behaved during grooming sessions.
