Dixie is an 8-month-old husky mix weighing approximately 25 lbs, boasting the brightest blue eyes you've ever seen! She came to us on a rainy day in April 2026, found with her mom running near the highway. A kind Samaritan stopped and patiently coaxed them both to safety. While her mom, a spaniel mix, has found her forever home, Dixie is still looking for hers. We don't believe Dixie will get very big, as her mom was only 30 lbs full-grown. Dixie is kennel trained and is already learning commands. She is a very smart and eager learner, and with some one-on-one attention, she'll master them in no time. She absolutely loves other dogs and gets along wonderfully with both small and large breeds. Dixie is still learning to trust humans and needs a patient, understanding, and gentle family. Another dog in the home would be a great asset in helping Dixie come out of her shell. If a canine companion isn't an option, providing her with regular playdates or enrolling her in doggy daycare would be beneficial. She's discovering the joy of toys and loves to play! Dixie is a gorgeous girl who deserves the very best.
Ideal Home
Dixie needs a patient, understanding, and gentle home. A home with another dog would be ideal, or a family committed to providing plenty of social interaction through playdates or daycare.
Ongoing Health
Dixie is spayed, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, and microchipped. She has also been dewormed and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
Training & Support
Dixie is kennel trained and is learning commands. She is very smart and eager to learn, but will benefit from one-on-one training. She is still learning to trust humans.

Transporation
Dixie is currently located in Texas. We transport animals to the Central US and the East Coast every 2-3 weeks. Destinations include: Albany and Latham, NY; Wells and Brattleboro, VT; Willington, New Haven, and Dayville, CT; Port Chester, NY; Dayton and Akron, OH; Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA; Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ; White Marsh/Elkton, MD; and Falls Church, VA. The adoption fee of $525 includes transport.
