About Opal

Meet Opal the Frenchie!

This little girl may only weigh 16 pounds, but she is a small but mighty soul! At around 3 years old, Opal has already been through more than most dogs ever should.

We took her in back in December 2025, and since then she has been on quite the journey. She needed to gain weight, be spayed, go through heartworm treatment, have her nares and palate surgery and just when we thought she was in the clear, she also had a mammary cyst removed.

Whew that's a lot for one little girl.

Opal was found abandoned, and we can only imagine she was used for breeding and then discarded when she was no longer "profitable." Sadly, this is all too common with this breed.

The good news? Opal has fully healed and is now ready for a home that truly understands and appreciates the Frenchie life.

She can come across as "aggressive" when meeting or seeing new dogs, but in reality, she lives with other dogs in her foster home and does great! We truly believe it's excitement and a need for continued socializationnot a mean bone in her body.

She has not been tested with cats. For children, we think older kids (10+) would be best, as she can be a little too playful for the younger ones.

A home with another dog would likely be ideal to help continue her canine social skills, and an experienced Frenchie owner ( either has one or has had one that can be confirmed via vet records) who gets it would be the perfect match.

Opal is:
Spayed
Fully vaccinated
Microchipped
On heartworm & flea prevention

She is currently in a Memphis-area foster home and ready to meet her forever family!
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THIS PET PLEASE SUBMIT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION VIA OUR WEBSITE: WWW.TAILSOFHOPEDOGRESCUE.COM. The adoption cost is $200.00.
