My name is Travey, and I’m a little over a year old, weighing 23 lbs. I’m a smart, eager-to-please girl who learns quickly and loves to snuggle! I ended up in foster care after a little adventure where I got loose. I’m still adjusting to my new surroundings, but I already love getting attention from my foster mom and sleeping in her bed. I’m potty trained and do well in my crate when she’s out, though I might give a little "Shiba scream" if left alone for too long. Treats are a great motivator for me, and I’ve mastered leash walking, though I do get excited and pull if I see a squirrel or bunny! I have a high prey drive and have even learned to jump over gates, so my future family will need to be vigilant about preventing escapes. New things can be a bit startling for me, and I can be suspicious of new people, barking to let them know I'm unsure. I can also be reactive to other dogs on walks. I’m looking for a patient, committed family who will help me become a well-adjusted adult. I’ll be your fiercely loyal best friend once I bond with you!
Ideal Home
I would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard and no shared walls, as I can be vocal. I’d prefer a home without cats or other small pets due to my high prey drive. While I get along with some dogs, I can be a bit selective, so a calm, easy-going canine companion would be ideal. I might do okay with older children after I’ve had time to get to know them, but I’m not suited for very young kids.
Ongoing Health
I’m a healthy girl, spayed and vaccinated. I had giardia when I first arrived, but I’m recovering well and feeling great!
Training & Support
I’m a quick learner and eager to please! I’m potty trained and crate trained, but I can be vocal when left alone. I’m working on my reactions to new people and other dogs, and I’ll need a family dedicated to ongoing training and socialization to help me build confidence. My high prey drive and ability to jump gates mean secure containment is essential.
