Meet Rusty! This handsome 2-year-old Cattle Dog mix weighs about 50 lbs and has a heart full of love, just waiting for his forever family. Rusty's journey hasn't always been easy, which can make him a bit shy in new situations. But don't let that fool you – beneath that cautious exterior is a sweet and silly boy who is blossoming every single day! It's truly a joy to watch him gain confidence, wag his tail, enjoy his toys, and learn to trust. He's already made incredible progress with his training and is eager to keep learning.

Ideal Home

Rusty would thrive in an active yet patient home that understands shy dogs and allows him to settle in at his own pace. He would especially love a home with a confident dog friend to help show him the ropes, and he does well with cats. Older, dog-savvy children who can approach him slowly and give him time to warm up would be a great fit.

Rusty is a healthy boy with no specific health conditions to report.

Training & Support

Rusty is making great strides with leash walking, crate training, and potty training. He's a quick learner and responds well to positive reinforcement. While he can be timid with new people and environments, he shows his shyness by avoiding rather than acting aggressively. Continued patience and positive reinforcement will help him continue to gain confidence.

Rusty is currently located in Texas but can be adopted locally or out of state. We coordinate safe transport and offer video meet-and-greets to ensure it's the perfect fit.
