Peeta

Meet Peeta! This affectionate 6-year-old Great Dane is a true companion, believing his favorite place in the world is right by your side. He excels at snuggles and happily soaks up all the pets and attention. Peeta is a smart and thoughtful dog, especially when food is involved, which has led him to master skills like opening the trash can and counter-surfing. For this reason, a kitchen chaperone is a must! He adores car rides and enjoys playing with his toys. Peeta can be quite talkative, so don't be surprised if he "answers" you when you ask him about his day.

Ideal Home

Peeta loves all the women he meets but can take a little more time to warm up to men, benefiting from slow introductions. He would do best in a home without young children, but can thrive with older children or adults who understand his needs, especially regarding resource guarding of food and toys. He also has a high prey drive, so a home without cats or small animals is essential.

Ongoing Health

Peeta is muzzle-trained.

Training & Support

Peeta is still perfecting his leash skills and can be reactive at times, but walks nicely with a Halti. He is a graduate of puppy school and knows his basic commands, and his intelligence and food motivation provide a great foundation for continued training. Peeta does experience some separation anxiety but is crate-trained and can also be trusted loose in a room.
