Max is a handsome 6-year-old, 71 lb Akita/Husky mix with one striking blue eye and a gentle soul. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and fully house-trained, with no accidents in his foster home. Max truly loves life and is an intelligent, obedient dog who is eager to learn and very in tune with the people around him. He has already mastered most commands and is a quick learner who enjoys working with his handler. Max builds strong bonds with people when given time and space to get to know them. Once he feels safe, his calm and happy personality really shines.
Max was sadly dumped at a kill shelter in NY and was placed on the euthanasia list. He was very frightened at the shelter, hesitant on walks, and unsure of people. While he would gently take treats, he would wait for people to step away before eating them, clearly wanting to trust but needing to feel safe. Upon arriving at his foster home, Max showed signs of trust immediately, accepting a treat from his foster's hand right away. Within just over a week, Max settled in, becoming more comfortable, calm, happy, and enjoying human company.
He loves walks, exploring new places, and going on car rides. Max also has a sweet, playful side and enjoys carrying his favorite toys, especially his duck, avocado, and little mouse.

Max thrives with structure and enjoys relaxing in his crate after walks. He may be a bit shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes a loyal and devoted companion. Max is looking for a peaceful, patient home where he can continue to grow and feel secure.
