Max (FKA Anubis)

Turn your heart up to the MAX! My name is Max, and I'm a super sweet, 6-year-old, 61-pound German Shepherd mix who is eager to find a family to call my own. I've been through some big changes in my life, but my hopeful spirit remains. I'm a big softie who loves my people, including kids. However, due to my past experiences, I can be shy around strangers, both human and canine. I'm working hard on building my confidence with daily training and enjoy my relaxation protocol and timed mat work. Once I feel comfortable, my playful side shines through! I love a good game of fetch and romping in the yard. I have a huge, loyal heart and so much potential, just waiting for a loving human to show me the world isn't so scary. I'm also sensitive to outside noises, so a white noise machine helps me feel more at ease. I'm a well-behaved boy who is house-trained and doesn't suffer from separation anxiety. While I do pull a bit on the leash and bark at noises outside, I'm happy to relax at home while you're out.

Ideal Home

I'm looking for a family that will shower me with love and patience as I adjust to my new surroundings. A quiet home with a big yard would be amazing, providing me with a safe space to play and gain confidence. I would do best as the only dog in the home for now.

Ongoing Health

I am a healthy guy who has been neutered and am up-to-date on my shots and microchipped.

Training & Support

I am good with bathroom and leash training but could use some work on loose leash walking. My main focus is building confidence around strangers and dogs. I bark at people outside the door, so I'm a good guard dog, but will need continued training to manage this.
