Lafayette has come such a long way with his trainers! He can sometimes be unsure about new people and places, but our behavior team is helping him gain confidence through new experiences. He does best with patience and repeated exposures, and he absolutely shines when he's with his doggy friends. Lafayette loves playing and exploring on walks, and when he's relaxed, he's a wiggly, affectionate boy who leans into his humans for pets and sweet, close contact. He's like a goofy puppy in many of his interactions! Lafayette knows "come" and "sit" commands like a pro, which we practice all the time!
Ideal Home
Lafayette enjoys long walks on quiet country roads, loves to lay in the grass to relax next to you, and will also run and play with toys in our yards. He has shown us his pure joy and love of having a canine friend, and he could live with another goofy, social dog. We are seeking an experienced adult-only foster or foster-to-adopt family who can give him the time he needs to blossom. He loves comfort, structure, and affection, so we are confident he would do wonderful in a foster home.

All vetting is up-to-date, including deworming and flea and tick treatments.
Training & Support
Lafayette has stellar "come" and "sit" commands. Housetraining with rescues can sometimes be a work in progress, and it should be expected that there will be an adjustment period as Lafayette adapts to a new environment. We highly recommend a 2-week shutdown and decompression period for best results. We will provide weekly support from our behavior team, who can help with acclimation into your home and answer any questions, including setting up virtual training sessions if needed. We offer a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes.

Transportation
Lafayette is located with a partner rescue in NY. He is adoptable to a larger distance than normal, within a few hours' drive of Rochester, NY, and between the Rochester and NYC areas, and closer to the NY tri-state area. Transportation can be arranged within a several-hour radius of Rochester, NY.
