Meet Penny, a delightful 2-year-old, 62-pound Shepherd/Husky mix with a bright spirit and a heart full of love to give. Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who truly thrives in an environment where she can stay active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always ready for her next adventure, or a good cuddle session. Penny is looking for a home where she can continue to grow and blossom into the confident, loyal companion she is destined to be.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively. She's looking for a home without cats due to observed prey-driven behavior outdoors. Penny enjoys the company of other dogs, ideally confident, medium-to-large dogs who are comfortable setting healthy boundaries, as she can sometimes be a bit strong during play. She needs a patient and understanding home that can provide structure and reassurance, as she has likely experienced past trauma and can flinch easily.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and is learning to be more comfortable with separation, though she prefers to be close to her people and may whine or bark when left alone. She has not been crate trained. She can be trusted loose in the house when items are picked up and food is put away, though she has a tendency to chew on dog beds when bored. Penny can be protective of her space and high-value items around other dogs, so mealtime and treat time are managed separately in her foster home. These are manageable behaviors that respond well to clear boundaries and respectful management. Penny is leash-trained and enjoys walks, hikes, runs, and sniffy adventures.
