Maxwell

Hi, I’m Maxwell, but most people call me Max or Maxy. My foster family has nicknamed me Goob (short for Goober). I was given a second chance at life thanks to some wonderful people who found me a foster home. At first, it was thought I might need hospice care, but I was determined to prove them wrong! After some testing, it was confirmed that I have hepatozoonosis, a very rare tick-borne disease. While I will always have it, it doesn’t stop me from living my best life! With a simple anti-inflammatory regimen, specialized food, and a patient and loving foster family to keep me active at my pace, I’ve gone into remission! I feel great most days and enjoy being active, though I do have occasional flare-ups that make me a little stiff and achy.

Ideal Home

I absolutely love kids and my people! I also LOVE walkies, snuggling on a blanket-covered couch, and of course, treats! I’m looking for a home that understands I need a little patience and time to feel safe with another dog. I wouldn’t do well in a dog park, but I enjoy saying hello to new friends on walks. I get along great with my chill, submissive foster brother who respects my boundaries when I'm not feeling up to playing.

Ongoing Health

I have hepatozoonosis, a lifelong tick-borne disease. I manage it with a simple anti-inflammatory regimen and joint supplement food. I’m also fully vetted, meaning I’ve had my yearly vaccines, monthly prevention, and have been neutered and microchipped. I’ve also completed my heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

I’m a super smart, sweet, goofy, and all-around good boy! I know how to sit, give paw, come when called, and go in my crate when it’s time. I’m also potty trained!
