A little about them

Meet Maxwell—also called Max, Maxy, or Goob! This goofy, sweet, smiley boy was given a second chance after struggling in the shelter and has since shown everyone how much life he has to enjoy. He loves his people, children, treats, slow walks, and cozy couch snuggles.

Ideal Home

Max enjoys being active at his own pace and would thrive with a patient, loving family. He is dog-friendly with the right companion and does best with a calm, respectful dog. He finds dog parks overwhelming but enjoys meeting dogs on walks. He loves children and his people.

Ongoing Health

Max has lifelong hepatozoonosis, a rare tick-borne disease. With an anti-inflammatory regimen, joint-supplement food, and activity paced to his comfort, he is currently in remission and feels great most days. Occasional flare-ups may leave him stiff and achy. He is fully vetted, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, receives monthly prevention, and has completed heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

Max is potty trained and knows how to sit, give paw, come when called, and go into his crate. He enjoys slow walks, couch snuggles, and a low-maintenance lifestyle. He may need patience and time to feel safe when introduced to another dog.
