Scout is a sweet, playful, and affectionate male Rat Terrier, approximately 3–4 years old and weighing around 14 lbs. He's full of personality and loves to run, play, and snuggle up close with his people. Scout truly enjoys giving and receiving affection, making him a wonderful companion. He's also very sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him an easy fit for many families. Scout was rescued after being attacked by larger dogs, but thankfully, he only sustained a few scratches and was very brave throughout the ordeal. He has shown incredible resilience and a loving spirit ever since, and is now safe, healthy, and ready to start a new chapter in a loving forever home.
Ideal Home
Scout would thrive in an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a securely fenced backyard. He needs a home with owners who have a genuine intention to rescue and understand the needs and behaviors of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. He also needs a family with high tolerance and patience, as he is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Scout has been neutered, vaccinated for DHPPI and rabies, and received a Bordetella vaccine. He is dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. He is up-to-date on monthly preventives for fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
Training & Support
Scout is not house-trained and will require patience and consistency to learn. He also benefits from owners who have experience with dog behavior and training, or are willing to seek professional guidance. It is important to understand that rescued dogs may need an adjustment period, and patience and understanding are crucial to building trust and a strong bond.

Transporation
Scout is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is available for transport to the East Coast of the US. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. The transport process includes scheduled trips with a partnered transport company, comprehensive paperwork including a health certificate from the USDA, and real-time updates throughout the journey in a dedicated Facebook Messenger group.
