Lulu is a delightful 7-month-old Husky Malamute mix with a heart full of silliness and a spirit ready for adventure! She came to us as an owner surrender, having previously lived outdoors with her family and other large dogs. Despite her limited prior experiences, Lulu has shown herself to be incredibly social and playful. She loves to zoom around our yards and is eager to engage in fun. Lulu has happily met other dogs, including those smaller than her, and has approached them with curiosity and playfulness. A home with other canine companions could be a wonderful fit, provided they have a successful meet and greet here at the shelter. She has also been around children in her previous home. Due to her observed prey drive, we recommend a home without felines or small animals. Lulu is dreaming of becoming someone's ultimate adventure buddy – could that someone be you? She is available for pre-adoption and can go home after her spay surgery.
Ideal Home
A home ready for an active and adventurous companion. A home with other dogs may be a good fit, but a meet and greet is required. A home without felines or small animals is recommended due to observed prey drive.
Ongoing Health
Lulu will be spayed prior to adoption.
Training & Support
Lulu is a young puppy and eager to learn. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is offering "Pawsitivity Bucks" with every dog adoption, which includes a $200 training voucher to help connect new adopters with local positive reinforcement-based behavior consultants.

Transporation
Lulu is located at our Santa Cruz location. Our shelter hours are 11 am - 6 pm, 7 days a week. While you can see animals in their kennels during open hours, "meet and greets" (meeting an animal outside of their kennel) conclude at 4:30 pm daily. Please arrive before 4:00 pm if you wish to meet an animal outside of their kennel, allowing ample time for discussion and the meet and greet itself.
