Shorty is a 3-year-old Siberian Husky who embodies quiet strength and resilience. This handsome boy weighs about 55 pounds and has been neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He has also successfully completed heartworm treatment. For almost two years, Shorty lived a challenging life alongside other dogs at a local Walmart. Thankfully, he and his companions are now safe and have found their way to us, and Shorty is ready for his own forever home.
Unlike many huskies, Shorty is more reserved and has a mellow demeanor. He isn't particularly vocal or high-energy and can be shy when encountering new places or people. However, with a little time, patience, and some tasty treats, his sweet and gentle personality will begin to blossom. He builds trust slowly but forms deep and meaningful bonds, and he will truly flourish with an adopter who understands that building confidence takes time.
Ideal Home
Shorty is seeking a husky-savvy and experienced adopter who can offer a calm and stable environment. His past experiences have left him with both physical and emotional scars, and he needs an understanding home to continue his healing journey. He is friendly with other dogs but would prefer a cat-free household.
Ongoing Health
Shorty has a history of significant injuries, including fractures in his front left leg, back left leg, and C7 spine, likely from high-impact trauma, as well as a gunshot wound to his front left leg. Because of these past injuries, he will require pain medication as needed for the remainder of his life.
Training & Support
Despite everything he has endured, Shorty remains incredibly gentle. He is already leash trained, potty trained, and crate trained, making him ready to adapt to a loving home routine. His adopter should be prepared to continue building trust and providing a consistent, supportive environment.
