About Annie

Annie is a sweet, spunky Shih Tzu and poodle mix pup! This 3-4 month old, 7 lb bundle of joy is estimated to reach around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and absolutely adores being doted on. She's a natural explorer, always curious about new toys, sounds, and people. With her confident and observant nature, she thrives on discovering the world. Annie is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dog friends. Her friendly disposition makes her the perfect companion for an active family who enjoys including their furry friend in everyday life. She's adaptable and enjoys adventures, but is just as happy cuddling on the couch. Annie finds joy in everything she does, whether it's playing with her foster siblings, snuggling with her foster mom, or chasing toys in the yard. She's a perfect balance of playful energy and relaxed companionship.

Ideal Home

Annie would thrive in a home that includes her in daily life with plenty of love, exercise, and attention. A fenced yard would be wonderful for her to explore and play in. She would love a playful, friendly dog companion and children to cuddle and play with. Alternatively, she would be perfectly happy as the "only child," receiving all the love and affection. Public dog parks are not recommended due to potential health risks and encounters with unknown dogs. Annie would love to go on outings around town or visit Sniff Spots for enrichment. A home where her humans work from home or have a hybrid schedule is ideal, but if her humans work outside the home, a dog walker or doggy daycare is recommended, as she cannot be left alone for more than 8 hours without playtime and potty breaks.

Ongoing Health

Annie is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and has had any necessary vet care while in rescue.

Training & Support

Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has begun leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night and naps in it during the day with the door open. She will alert her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy doorbell to help her learn to notify you when she needs to go out. She requires a consistent schedule and frequent potty breaks initially, but she adjusts quickly to new routines. Annie is starting to teethe, so her new family will need to supervise her to ensure she doesn't chew on human toys. She is wiggly when excited and picked up, so a family with older children who are experienced with small breeds and know how to handle her carefully is recommended. She is friendly towards cats who are comfortable around dogs and have previous experience living with dogs, as she is a playful puppy and will want to interact with them. If she is the only dog in the home, frequent playdates or doggy daycare a couple of times a week would be beneficial for her continued positive social interactions. She would likely be too much for a senior dog not accustomed to puppy energy.
