Meet Benson!
Benson is a gentle and devoted five-year-old mixed breed with American Pitbull Terrier, German Shepherd, and Chow Chow lineage. This large, 75-pound boy has a soft cream coat and soulful eyes that speak of his quiet devotion. He's happiest as a constant companion, enjoying car rides, lounging by the window, and snuggling up during quiet evenings. Benson is a smart boy who knows many commands, including "sit," "stay," "come," "kisses," and "snuggle." His favorite activities include chasing balls, playing enrichment games, swimming, and enjoying a good chew toy. Benson can be sensitive to sudden noises or movements and may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he forms a bond, he is incredibly loving and attentive with impeccable house manners. This intuitive dog is deeply in tune with emotions and offers comfort by leaning in or curling up beside you when you need it most.
Ideal Home
Benson would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard that is at least six feet tall, as he has been known to jump fences. He needs a home where he feels safe, supported, and understood. Benson is selective with other dogs and needs a thoughtful, well-managed environment to feel secure. He is not compatible with cats and needs an adult-only home.
Ongoing Health
Benson requires medication to manage allergies and support his emotional balance.
Training & Support
Benson walks well overall but can pull on the leash. Continued guidance and positive reinforcement training will help him stay focused. While he has experience living with multiple dogs, there has been increasing tension with one particular dog, leading to a physical altercation. Because of this, Benson would thrive as the only dog in a home or with a caregiver who can provide very structured, gradual introductions supported by positive reinforcement training.
