Huey is a handsome, athletic, and incredibly smart 2-year-old dog with legs made for adventure and love to share. He's a mid-size boy weighing in at 56 lbs, and his expressive ears ensure he never misses a thing! Huey has been in a loving foster home, mastering all the skills needed to be the best boy and is home-life ready. He's a quick learner, responds well to confident leadership, and thrives with clear boundaries. Huey is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows how to settle indoors. He loves to be a quiet shadow, following his people around without being intrusive, just wanting to be close. Huey also enjoys car rides and is happy to nap on the couch after any adventure, big or small.
Ideal Home
Huey would thrive in a home with a yard, as apartment living is not his preference. He needs a calm, structured environment and is not suited for a fast-paced life or busy city. While he has enjoyed living with children and other dogs in the past, long-term living with kids is not for him. He can be a wonderful companion for visiting children, but he prefers a peaceful home environment for himself. A home with no other dogs would eliminate any potential tension over meal times, though he has lived successfully with other dogs, sharing toys and playing well.
Ongoing Health
Huey is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention, and he has been spayed/neutered. He is microchipped with free lifetime registration. While his vetting is extensive, a health certificate deeming him healthy for travel is provided.
Training & Support
Huey is house-trained and crate-trained. He is a smart dog who responds well to confident leadership and boundaries. A common behavior he exhibits is resource guarding when it comes to food, meaning he does not like other dogs attempting to eat his food. His fosters have managed this successfully by feeding him and other dogs in their crates and not offering treats or table food. This behavior is easily managed with proper feeding routines.

Transporation
Huey is available for adoption to anywhere in the US. Transport is available to NV, MT, CO, UT, ID, OR, WA, Canada, and the East Coast. Specialized transport is provided via a USDA licensed semi-truck for PNW adoptions and a private, air-conditioned van or bus for East Coast adoptions.
