🐾 Meeko — Your Loyal, Gentle Companion 🐾

Meeko is a sweet, sensitive boy who recently came to Dogtree Pines after his lifelong owner could no longer care for him. Having spent his entire life in one home, this transition has been a big adjustment—but he’s showing us more of his heart every day. He’s a unique mix—his mom was a white Labrador and his dad a Red Heeler—giving him a wonderful blend of loyalty and intelligence. Meeko is gentle, cautious, and observant. He takes time to warm up, but loves attention once he feels safe. He is quiet and low-key and is doing well with other dogs, but is overwhelmed by large groups. Meeko currently prefers the comfort of his cozy “apartment” space and is still building confidence. He’ll come out into the yard when he feels safe—but he’s not a fan of chaos or a busy pack. There is something incredibly special about earning the trust of a dog like Meeko. Watching his tail wag when you walk into the room is pure magic. He bonds deeply and will be a loyal, loving companion to the right person.

Ideal Home

Meeko would thrive in a calm, peaceful environment. He does not do well in a large pack of dogs. He needs a patient adopter who understands slower transitions and someone who is home often or willing to give him time and reassurance.

Ongoing Health

Meeko is currently overweight but is otherwise healthy. He will need continued weight loss support, including a special diet and light exercise, and he is already making progress and feeling better!

Training & Support

Meeko is house-trained. He has a low to moderate energy level.
