Pumpkin Lumpkin is a two-year-old Redbone Coonhound mix with a personality as sweet as melted marshmallow. Her most striking feature is her incredibly long, floppy ears that seem to have a life of their own, bouncing when she walks and pooling on the floor when she rests. Pumpkin's favorite pastime is comfort, whether that's a soft couch, a plush dog bed, or even your lap if you'll have her. She's a low-maintenance companion, described as sweet and easy to live with. Pumpkin walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys leisurely strolls and peaceful lounging. She's incredibly tolerant and affectionate with people, greeting everyone with a wagging tail and melting into love once she settles in. She is also polite and unproblematic with other dogs, preferring to mind her own business after a brief greeting. She currently lives happily with smaller dogs and would do well with a respectful, lower-energy canine companion or as a cherished solo pet. Pumpkin has also shown positive interactions with calm, dog-savvy cats who respect boundaries. While not yet kid-tested, her gentle, easygoing, and affectionate nature suggests she could be a wonderful family dog. She might do well in an apartment with the right setup, but her occasional hound-like vocalizations might make a house with a yard a better fit. Pumpkin is currently on a wellness journey to manage some extra weight, which can make her tire more easily, but she's a happy, easygoing girl who still enjoys exploring.
Ideal Home
A home that embraces a slower pace of life with plenty of opportunities for leisurely sniffy walks. Humans who appreciate her magnificent floppy ears and can offer lots of love without expecting her to be an athlete would be perfect. A home with a yard or a more hound-friendly apartment situation would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Pumpkin is currently carrying some extra weight, which can make her tire more easily. She is on a wellness journey to help her reach a healthier weight.
