Meet Rufus, a delightful 2-year-old Cockapoo/Shih Tzu mix who weighs around 22 pounds. He's a fluffy, scruffy boy with a heart as big as his personality, and he's ready to find his forever family! Rufus was found as a stray, a little lost and tangled, but even then, his tail never stopped wagging. Now cleaned up and safe, he's blossomed into a joyful, clever, and incredibly affectionate companion. He's the perfect size for cuddles and loves belly rubs more than anything! Rufus is a smart cookie who walks well on a leash, knows "sit," and is eager to learn more. He's crate trained and house trained when kept on a regular schedule. He comes when called and is always trying to figure things out, showing a genuine desire to be a good boy.
Ideal Home
Rufus absolutely adores other dogs and thrives in their company, enjoying playtime with dogs of all sizes at our Rescue Ranch. He would do wonderfully with another playful canine friend, but he could also be happy as an only dog with active humans. Due to his boundless enthusiasm and exuberance, Rufus is best suited for a home without children under the age of 10.
Ongoing Health
Rufus is fully vetted and ready for his new home. He has been neutered, microchipped, is heartworm negative, and is up-to-date on all his vaccinations.
Training & Support
Rufus is a quick learner who genuinely wants to please. While he's not naughty, he is very enthusiastic about life, and a consistent routine will help him adjust and settle into his new home. He would benefit from a family who understands he may need a little time to truly blossom.

- An additional $260 is required for transport.
Transportation
Rufus is currently located in Houston, Texas. We arrange transport for our "out of town" pets to locations near you. Once your application is approved, we can arrange a FaceTime session to introduce you to Rufus. Transport is provided by a dedicated team who will update you in real-time on your dog's journey, providing exact locations and estimated arrival times. For safety, all dogs are crated during transport, which includes scheduled stops for breaks.
