Fred 4544

Fred is a wonderful adult male mixed breed dog who weighs between sixty and ninety-nine pounds. He was rescued by Big Dog Ranch from another rescue in North Alabama after the owner was hospitalized, leaving the dogs in urgent need of help. When our team arrived and saw the conditions they were living in, we knew we had to act immediately. With a dedicated group of staff and volunteers, it took nearly seven hours to safely catch and secure each dog. Many were scared, yet incredibly sweet and innocent - confused about what was happening, but never aggressive, just unsure and overwhelmed. Now, at Big Dog Ranch, Fred is finally safe and receiving much-needed medical care, nutritious meals, and plenty of love and patience. He is learning how to walk on a leash for the very first time and is slowly learning to trust our K9 care staff, discovering that gentle pets, kind voices, and warm hugs can be a good thing. In time, this amazing dog will be ready to begin the next chapter of his life in a forever home, where he can give back the love and joy he has been waiting so long to share.

Ideal Home

Fred would do well in a home with moderate energy. He's good with dogs.

Fred is still learning to walk on a leash and build trust. Patience, kind voices, and warm hugs will help him thrive.
