Opal is a precious 2.5-month-old female Dachshund mix, weighing around 9 lbs. She's a sweet girl looking for a loving home to grow and play in. Opal, along with her four siblings, has been lovingly cared for by their mama Sulie in Puerto Rico. Now, they are ready to embark on new adventures in forever homes in the DC area! Opal loves to play with toys, explore with zoomies, and cuddle up for sweet snuggles. She's eager to discover her new neighborhood on lots of walks and is excited to make many doggie friends. Plus, she's ready to show off her smarts in puppy obedience classes!
Ideal Home
Opal is looking for a home that will give her plenty of opportunities to play and expend her puppy energy, followed by lots of snuggles. She's excited about exploring new places on walks and making friends with other dogs. Homes with owners who work standard 8-hour days will need to make arrangements for multiple potty breaks and exercise throughout the day to meet her needs, as puppies under 6 months require frequent attention.
Ongoing Health
Opal has received age-appropriate vaccines but may not be fully vaccinated yet. It is the adopter's responsibility to ensure she receives the rest of her puppy vaccinations on schedule. Until she is fully vaccinated, she will be at a greater risk for illness. Opal has not yet been spayed, and this must be completed by October 17, 2026, as per the adoption contract. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit is available if you would like Lucky Dog to cover the cost at one of their partner vets.
Training & Support
Opal will need to work on house training and attend obedience school to become a well-socialized dog.
