Meet Penny! This 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix is a bundle of bright spirit, a big heart, and an endless supply of love. Penny is a fun-loving, affectionate, and outgoing girl who thrives when she's active, engaged, and close to her people. She's curious, social, and always ready for her next adventure or a good cuddle. Penny is a smart, sensitive soul who wants to bond deeply with her forever family. With the right home, Penny will be an incredibly rewarding and joyful companion.
Ideal Home
Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively. She should be in a cat-free home due to prey-driven behaviors observed outdoors. Penny thrives with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can help her learn social etiquette, as she can sometimes be a bit too exuberant with smaller or more timid dogs. Her ideal home will provide structure, patience, and understanding, and won't expect perfection immediately.
Ongoing Health
Penny is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and is learning to be more comfortable with separation. She has not yet been crate-trained and prefers to be close to her people, which can lead to whining or barking when separated. She can be trusted loose in the house if items are put away, but she does have a tendency to chew on dog beds when bored. Penny can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs, requiring separate meal and treat times. These behaviors are manageable and have shown improvement in foster care with clear boundaries and respectful management. Penny flinches easily and needs reassurance and calm, consistent care. She would love an adopter who enjoys walks, hikes, runs, or sniffy adventures, as she needs consistent mental and physical outlets for her energy.
