Meet Ponderosa, or "Pondsy" as we affectionately call him! This handsome boy is an almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix, weighing around 60 pounds of pure sunshine, goofiness, and "goodest boy" energy. Pondsy has a shiny black coat and warm brown eyes that will melt your heart. When he's excited to see you, he does the signature "Pondsy Wiggle," his tail wags furiously, and he's ready for belly rubs! He's a curious and playful pup who loves being part of every adventure, from hiking to car rides. He's also a champion snuggle bug once the day's activities are done. Pondsy adores other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with a playful, medium-energy female dog. However, he's also happy to be the one and only furry friend, soaking up all the attention.
Ideal Home
Pondsy would do best in a home without cats, as they are too tempting for him. He can also be a bit overwhelmed by small children, so we recommend a home with teenagers (13+) and adults. He could adapt to apartment living on the first floor if he receives sufficient exercise and mental stimulation, but a yard would be a wonderful bonus for him.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy has undergone leg surgery and has completed physical therapy. His back leg has a unique characteristic now, but it doesn't slow down his love for running, playing, and zooming.
Training & Support
Pondsy is a joy to be around and generally well-behaved, but he's still a young dog with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. His adoption fee includes an assessment by our trainers, who have worked with him on various aspects of behavior and socialization to prepare him for his forever home.

You can track your pet's journey in real time and receive photo updates. For Canadian adopters, pick-up is in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT.
