Luther is a sweet, silly, 1-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a personality that will keep you smiling. With his bouncy floppy ears and playful spirit, he's ready to find a forever home that will enjoy both his zoomies and his snuggles. He loves to play fetch and tug, and while he has a high-energy play style, he also knows how to relax once his exercise needs are met. Luther is outgoing, curious, playful, smart, silly, and affectionate, always seeking attention and happy to give kisses. He warms up quickly to strangers with gentle reassurance and enjoys being close to his humans, especially for belly scratches.
Ideal Home
Luther would do well in many types of homes, apartment or house, as long as he receives regular exercise and continued guidance. A backyard would be a bonus for zoomies, but daily walks and playtime are just as great. He doesn't mind if he's the only dog or has canine siblings, but he'll always choose his humans first. He does prefer human interaction and bonding time, but if there are no other dogs in the home, his adopters should plan how to socialize him.
Ongoing Health
Luther is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is house-trained and has not had any accidents since his first day in foster care. He sleeps in his crate and, while he may protest briefly at first, he settles within a few minutes. When left alone for up to two hours, he typically just naps. He is not ready to be left loose in the house yet, as he's still learning what is and isn't a toy. Luther shows no resource guarding and eats comfortably around other dogs, showing no possessiveness over toys, treats, or food.
Training & Support
Luther walks great on leash with another dog and currently shares a home with a dog about his size. He can be somewhat barky when seeing other dogs on leash, but this is something that can continue to improve with training. He has interacted with cats and sniffed them before ignoring them. He has also been around children as young as 6 years old and was very gentle. In the car, he is still learning confidence getting in and out, but once inside, he enjoys looking out the window and settles nicely if his bed is with him.

Transportation
Luther is currently in Houston, Texas. He can be transported to an adopter once approved. Transport is included in the adoption donation of $475.
