My name is Pirate, and I'm a ridiculously handsome, sweet, and gentle young adult cattle dog, about 2 years old. My past is a bit of a mystery, but it's clear life wasn't always kind to me. When I first arrived at a shelter, I was overwhelmed and frightened, shutting down completely. Thankfully, my foster mom saw past my fear and knew I deserved a chance to decompress and discover what life could be. Since joining ACDRA, I've slowly begun to show my true colors. Beneath my timid exterior is a silly, playful young dog who desperately wants to trust. As I settle in and feel safe, my personality continues to emerge, revealing a sweet companion with a goofy side that's impossible not to love.

Ideal Home

I'm looking for a calm, predictable home where I can continue building confidence at my own pace. A quieter household without young children would be ideal for me. I'm not a dog who needs excessive activity or endless adventures; I've been perfectly content with a more relaxed lifestyle. I currently live with multiple cats and two male cattle dogs and have shown positive interest in them, though I would likely be equally happy as an only dog or with a well-matched canine companion.
