About Mylo
Meet Mylo – a charming 4-year-old, 44-pound Cattle Dog mix with an unforgettable tongue and an even bigger heart. Mylo is currently in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, and is eager to find his forever family.
Mylo has a unique "perma-blep" – his tongue is a little too long for his mouth, and it's always peeking out! The vet has confirmed this is a harmless, natural trait and doesn't cause him pain, though he does appreciate a little extra hydration. He also has a slight protruding bone at the base of his rib cage, which is also a natural characteristic. Mylo is a delightful blend of goofball and original!
He's an affectionate, silly, and curious boy who loves to play and explore. Mylo has a good amount of Cattle Dog energy and thrives with daily activity, including long walks and playtime in the yard. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and is adept at reading their social cues. Mylo is also quite vocal when playing or excited, making a variety of charming noises that are simply his way of communicating, not a sign of aggression. He's friendly and well-mannered when meeting new dogs on walks, though his initial vocalizations might sound intense. However, Mylo has shown some interest in chasing cats, so a feline-free home would be best.
Mylo has interacted well with children of various ages. Due to his occasional jumping and enthusiasm, a home with older children (10+) who are steady on their feet and understand how to interact with an energetic dog is recommended. He is loving and playful, and with continued positive training, his manners will only improve.
He absolutely loves his walks and is eager to explore the world. He can pull on the leash when excited, so a no-pull harness or Gentle Leader could be helpful. Mylo is fully house-trained and has been trusted to roam freely when unsupervised, usually staying in his designated area. While he hasn't been crated in his foster home, he's adapted well to having freedom and would likely do best in a home where someone is present more often or has a flexible schedule.
Mylo prefers to eat his meals and treats separately, not out of aggression, but because he enjoys his snacks all to himself! With his people, he is incredibly affectionate, playful, and cuddly. He greets his foster family with enthusiastic hops and happy vocalizations, tail wagging and tongue out, looking like the happiest dog in the world.
He is a smart and responsive dog who thrives on positive reinforcement. He listens when called, loves praise, and is eager to please. Like many herding breeds, Mylo benefits from routine and clear communication. He may occasionally flinch at quick movements or new objects, so a patient home that understands his background and allows him to settle in at his own pace will be ideal.
