About Gio

Gio is a 4-year-old, 78-pound black lab mix who has perfected the art of the bear hug! He's a sweet, cuddly boy who loves to wrap his front paws around you and will readily crawl into your lap once he knows you're a friend. Gio is a certified love bug, soaking up every bit of affection you have to give. He's not just about cuddles, though; he also loves walks and splashing around in the water, becoming more comfortable in the pool each day. His balanced energy level makes him the perfect companion for playtime and relaxation. Gio is great in the car and happy to go on adventures or just chill with his favorite humans.

Ideal Home

Gio would do best in a home with female dogs or as the only dog, as he doesn't see eye-to-eye with the male foster dog. He is also recommended for homes with children 10 years and over. While he hasn't been cat-tested, he could potentially be feline-friendly with the right introductions.

Ongoing Health

Gio is crate-trained. He has been known to chew on items when bored, but this is easily managed with plenty of toys and activities.

Training & Support

Gio is excelling in obedience classes and is mastering leash walking. He is enthusiastic about making new friends, and while he sometimes shows too much excitement, he is learning to keep it in check. He can exhibit some food guarding, but he is making progress with this. He has a few training sessions included with his adoption to ensure continued success.
