Rigby was rescued from animal control, and though his past is a mystery due to uncooperative staff, we've gotten to know him quite well! He excels at "sit," "shake," "up," and "lay down," proving his smarts and eagerness to please.

Ideal Home

Rigby would thrive in a home without any other dogs, as his large size and a desire to avoid potential conflicts mean he needs to be the sole canine companion. Due to past experiences with resource guarding, he also needs a home without children. He's a calm, collected fellow who mostly barks at unfamiliar noises or guests he can't reach. Rigby seems like he'd be a best buddy to cats! A crucial requirement is a home where he will never be restrained; no reaching over his body, hugging, or grabbing his paws.

Rigby has a history of resource guarding, which has improved with careful training.

Training & Support

Rigby is working on his confidence, especially around being handled. He enjoys desensitization exercises that have been turned into a fun game, helping him feel more comfortable with touch. He loves butt scratches and is easily won over with peanut butter! He's not afraid of strangers or men and enjoys conversation.
