Meet Sunshine! This sweet, gentle, and remarkably even-tempered 10-pound Shih Tzu is approximately 2-3 years old and is looking for a fresh start. Sunshine comes from a background where she lived with many other dogs, so the world is still a bit new to her. Every day she's becoming braver, more curious, and more confident. She's not a barky, reactive, snappy, or demanding dog; in fact, the only noise she makes is an occasional little chirp! She prefers to observe the world quietly and thoughtfully.
Ideal Home
Sunshine would thrive in a calm home. She absolutely needs another friendly, confident dog in her home to help her feel secure and show her the ropes. She would also do best in a home without very young children, or with older children who can give her space and allow her to build trust at her own pace.
Ongoing Health
Sunshine recently had a urinary tract infection and is currently in heat, which have both complicated her house-training progress. These issues are being addressed, and we expect her house-training success to continue improving as she recovers and her routine becomes more consistent.
Training & Support
Sunshine is still working on house training, but she does go potty when taken outside and is steadily improving. She walks beautifully on leash and enjoys neighborhood walks, exploring grassy areas, and trotting alongside her canine friends. She is not reactive to other dogs, bicycles, or passing cars. While loud or unfamiliar noises can still make her nervous, she recovers quickly and is becoming more resilient. She sleeps quietly in her crate and handles being left alone without difficulty. Sunshine loves chicken and peanut butter. A fun quirk: she likes to eat when nobody is watching and "dog paddles" when being rinsed!
