Gina is a 1-year-old spayed female Belgian Malinois mix, weighing 56lbs. She was found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a cardboard box near a busy road. Despite her rough start, Gina has blossomed in her foster home and is ready to find her forever family. She's a playful girl who loves to engage in games of tug-of-war with her doggy friends and enjoys collecting all her toys in her bed. Gina is also a big fan of fetch! She's a smart cookie who is house and crate trained, can be crated for up to 8 hours, walks well on a leash, and doesn't suffer from separation anxiety.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with someone who can provide her with plenty of playtime and mental stimulation. She enjoys the company of familiar dog friends and does well with both small dogs under 15 lbs and large dogs over 75 lbs in her foster home. Due to past experiences, she can be apprehensive around unfamiliar large dogs and will do best with slow introductions. She would also do best in a home without cats, as she can be a bit too enthusiastic about neighborhood kitties. Gina seeks human attention and, while she hasn't been around children, her jumpiness and lack of awareness of her size suggest a home with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up). She would be a great addition to a family with older kids, a couple, or even someone living alone, provided they have another dog to keep her company and help her burn off energy.

Training & Support
Gina is a smart pup who is house and crate trained. She walks well on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. However, she is still in her "puppy velociraptor stage" and will need guidance on appropriate chew items. She also prefers to eat her treats alone. Adopters should be prepared to provide Gina with regular socialization, positive reinforcement training, and ample outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment to help her grow into a well-mannered adult.
