About Kona

Meet Kona! She's a sweet, sensitive mixed-breed girl who's looking for a patient and experienced human or humans to give her the time and space she needs to feel safe and loved. Originally rescued as a young puppy from Mexico, Kona is naturally cautious around new people and unfamiliar situations. She truly thrives when she's allowed to move at her own pace.

Kona takes time to build trust with new people and will need slow, positive introductions. Loud noises, unfamiliar environments, quick movements, and meeting strangers can all be overwhelming for her. However, beneath her timid exterior is a playful, affectionate dog just waiting to let her personality shine! Once you've earned her trust, Kona is incredibly loyal and forms a deep bond with her people. When she's comfortable, Kona loves splashing in creeks, swimming, chasing sticks, enjoying her morning zoomies in the yard, and soaking up the sunshine during a relaxing afternoon.

Ideal Home

Kona is looking for a quiet, predictable home with experienced adopters who understand that trust cannot be rushed. A home with minimal visitors would be ideal, as frequent new people can be stressful for her. She is not suitable for a home with young children.

Ongoing Health

Kona has been spayed.

Training & Support

Kona can be selective with other dogs but may do well with the right canine companion following slow, thoughtful introductions. Any resident dogs will need to be introduced carefully to ensure a good match. Multiple meet-and-greets are required before Kona can go home with her new family—no exceptions. She needs the opportunity to build a relationship with her adopters before making such a big transition. This extra time helps set Kona up for success and gives her the best chance to thrive in her new home.
