Johnny Cash is a handsome 2-year-old, 52-pound Sheltie/Heeler mix who was overlooked for too long at a rural Texas shelter. He's a smart, loyal, and eager-to-bond boy with no mean bone in his body. Despite his past, he's a loving dog who leans into affection and snuggles. He's playful, adventurous, and loves being outdoors, but is also happy to curl up for couch time. Johnny Cash is intelligent, observant, and thrives with a person to love and a purpose.

Ideal Home

Johnny Cash needs a family who will see the incredible dog he is and give him the stability and love he deserves. Due to his prey drive, he cannot live in a home with cats or free-ranging chickens.

Johnny Cash is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He appears to have some anxiety surrounding vehicles, likely from past experiences. While he's done well on car rides, it's recommended he travel secured in a crate or kennel.

Training & Support

Johnny Cash walks nicely on a a leash and is not reactive to cattle. While he's not a "project dog," new environments can make him a little unsure at first, but his true personality shines once he feels safe.
