Eddie is a gentle, sweet, and sensitive young Labrador mix who is looking for a patient and loving forever home. At approximately 1.5 years old and weighing around 37 lbs, he is a bit shy and may initially keep his distance, but with kindness and time, he blossoms into an affectionate companion who enjoys playful moments and gives sweet kisses. Eddie walks well on a leash, gets along with other dogs, children, men, and women, and truly enjoys his walks. He was rescued after being found near his former rescuer's home with his sister, who sadly passed away. Eddie is sensitive to loud noises, so a calm environment is essential for his well-being.
Ideal Home
Eddie would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a home that understands shy dogs and is willing to give him the time and space he needs to build trust. Families should have an open conscience about the needs of street animals and be prepared for the protective and educational aspects of rescue. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly desired. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are also important.
Ongoing Health
Eddie has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and is on monthly preventive protection (Nexgard Spectra). He has a health certificate and vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Eddie is not house-trained, which is common for many rescued dogs. He needs patience and understanding to overcome fears and anxieties from past experiences and to adapt to a new environment. Establishing a routine and clear boundaries will help him feel secure.

Transporation
Eddie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip. Transportation is handled door-to-door. The organization organizes 3-4 trips per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. A contracted transport company from Montana collects adopted pets in Mexico and escorts them across the border into Texas for US adoptions. For Canadian adoptions, pets are delivered to the US-Canada border with all required paperwork. Adopters will be added to a private Facebook Messenger group for real-time updates on the pet's journey, including photos, videos, feeding/walking schedules, and ETAs. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers the cost from Mexico to your home.
