About Falcor

Falcor is a sweet, lanky Great Pyrenees mix with a whole lot of love to give! He navigates the world as a deaf dog, and while that might sound daunting, Falcor is a quick learner and uses a vibration collar as a gentle cue for attention and recall. He's working on hand signal commands and is eager to please, thriving on routine and clear boundaries. Falcor has a playful spirit, enjoying zoomies in the snow, wrestling with his canine companions, and chewing on a good bone. He's also a snuggle bug who loves to be close to his people, offering plenty of affection and making himself comfortable. Falcor is looking for a family to call his own, and with patience and understanding, he's sure to be a loyal and loving companion.

Ideal Home

Falcor does best with smaller or female dogs, especially those with a naturally submissive temperament. He benefits from slow, structured introductions to new dogs. He prefers to enjoy his meals and special treats in his own space, which helps him relax and prevents any stress around high-value items. He enjoys playing with mindful children and loves attention.

Ongoing Health

Falcor is deaf and uses a vibration collar for attention. He takes Fluoxetine daily for generalized anxiety, and Clonidine on an as-needed basis for stressful situations like vet visits. He is currently being treated for Lyme and Anaplasmosis with Doxycycline. Continued veterinary care with your primary care veterinarian will be necessary to manage these conditions.

Training & Support

Falcor is learning hand signal commands and is responding well to training. He is working on muzzle training for comfort in overwhelming situations. He can be a bit mouthy, but this is decreasing with training. He has some resource guarding tendencies towards food, so separate feeding and providing each dog with a bone/toy or treat is recommended. He can have a touch of separation anxiety when kenneled, though he settles down within 10-15 minutes.
