Zena is a sweet 4-year-old girl who found herself homeless when her family's priorities changed with the arrival of a new baby. She came directly to our Connecticut Rescue, so she thankfully avoided the stress of a typical shelter environment. Zena might be a little shy when you first meet her, as she didn't receive much socialization or training in her previous home. Despite this, she's a bright spark who has been enjoying learning new things! We suspect she's a mix of Beagle and Pug, with a dash of Rottweiler adding to her sassy personality. Zena is a sturdy, medium-sized dog weighing around 30 pounds, and could gain a bit of weight to reach a healthy 35 pounds. She's a smart cookie who has learned most basic commands and is eager to continue her training journey. When she's not working on her commands, Zena loves a few brisk walks each day to burn off her energy! She's already doing a great job with her house manners, being both house-trained and crate-trained, though a little patience may be needed as she settles into her new home.

Ideal Home

Zena would thrive in an active adult home with adopters who have experience with rescue dogs and understand the importance of a decompression period. She needs someone who is patient and willing to go slow with her, especially when introducing her to new people and during vet visits where she can be sensitive to touch.

Ongoing Health

Zena is in optimal health. She has been spayed, received routine vaccinations and health screenings, and has been dewormed and microchipped.

Training & Support

Zena has been doing wonderfully with her training and enjoys the process. We recommend continuing with obedience work to help build your bond and provide her with mental and physical stimulation. Remember, a few brisk daily walks will also help her feel her best!
