Lady is a 4-year-old, 37lb dog who has made tremendous progress in becoming more confident and brave. We don't know what happened to Lady in her past, but whatever it was, it made the outside world a hard place to be. She needs a very gentle and quiet home to thrive. She is looking for a very patient adopter, preferably one who has experience with shy and nervous dogs. While we know she still has a long way to go to feel safe and blossom, we are so proud of how far she's come! In many ways, Lady is a very easy keep. She will never need to be walked for more than 5 minutes. She likes to get her business done and head back inside. She is low-key and doesn't ask for much at all, just a warm bed, full belly, and a quiet, peaceful space to call home with her canine buddies.
Ideal Home
Lady needs a very gentle and quiet home to thrive. She requires a patient adopter, preferably one with experience with shy and nervous dogs. Her world needs to be kept small until she is ready. She needs to be given agency of choice: choice of when she's ready to meet someone, choice of spaces she prefers, and choice of being able to go back inside when she feels scared. Lady needs a quiet home without a lot of comings and goings, a home that is set in a quiet neighborhood with a fenced-in yard. City dwelling is not suitable for Lady. She would do best with an adult-only household and requires a home with another resident dog (or dogs) to help mentor her.
Ongoing Health
Lady has been started on anti-anxiety medication, which has proven to be very helpful in improving her quality of life.
Training & Support
Lady is described as a low-key dog who doesn't ask for much. She needs a patient adopter to help her continue to gain confidence.
