Janie

Janie is a sweet and shy girl, weighing about 18lbs and likely a Dachshund mix with her unique body shape. She came from a situation with too many animals and not enough human interaction, so she's looking for a patient and understanding adopter to help her blossom at her own pace. Janie enjoys spending time outdoors in a yard, sunbathing with her canine pals, rolling in the grass, and keeping an eye out for critters. While she's not a big player, she occasionally shows interest in toys and loves gentle pets and belly rubs once she feels comfortable, often becoming your shadow! She can be a bit hesitant when approached or picked up, but she's very responsive to treats, routine, and positive reinforcement. To help her settle in, she's currently on anti-anxiety medication. Janie is worthy of a loving home and will reward your patience with progress.

Ideal Home

A quiet home where she can go at her own pace. Young children are not recommended due to her timid nature. She thrives with a securely fenced yard and is not yet leash trained.

Ongoing Health

Janie is currently on anti-anxiety medication to help her adjust. All of our dogs come spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives.

Training & Support

Janie is crate-trained and approximately 95% housetrained, with only rare accidents. She gets along well with cats and dogs, though she prefers calm and easygoing companions. She does exhibit some resource guarding (barking) around food and high-value treats, so meals and these items should be separated from other pets.

Transporation

Janie is currently in a foster home in the Madison area. We do not have a physical shelter; animals are viewed by appointment after an application is submitted. Transportation within the Madison area can be discussed.
