Sassy is an adorable older girl, estimated to be 8 years old and weighing about 25 lbs. She's working on her fitness and shedding a few extra pounds, getting into shape with increased exercise and attention! While she might not be the most glamorous pup, she is absolutely perfect in every way. We've learned that Sassy likely had a very difficult past, and the scarring on her face is consistent with being a bait dog. Our vet confirmed that she has a history of abuse, and we're so glad we can help her find her loving forever home. Sassy is a super affectionate companion who adores giving kisses and spending time with her humans. She listens very well and has excellent dinner table manners, preferring to lounge in her bed while you eat, with no begging! She loves to snuggle under blankets and pillows, making herself a cozy nest to lounge in next to you. Sassy sleeps in her crate but would much prefer to sleep in your bed if allowed.
Ideal Home
Sassy would do best in a calm home with an adopter who will take her on adventures and understands her need for a predictable routine. She would prefer if someone was home with her most of the time. She is timid with men, cowers at noises, and is scared of children due to past abuse, so absolutely no small children are allowed as their sudden movements can frighten her. She has a high prey drive and will chase cats, so no small mammals are allowed. Sassy does NOT like the cold weather and requires a sweater collection!
Ongoing Health
Sassy has visited an eye specialist and has no notable concerns. Her jaw is slightly misaligned, which causes her to drool while eating and drinking, likely related to her past abuse. She is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on heartworm, flea, and tick preventative.
Training & Support
Sassy is very potty trained and has never had an accident! She is also housebroken and crate-trained. She is not a chewer and is very respectful of things in the home. She is strong on the leash despite her size, requiring a fit adopter. She can jump on surfaces and get underfoot. She has a good bark for stranger danger. She is not very into toys and can get scared if a toy is thrown, preferring to be a lap diva.
