Meet Marita, a sweet, loyal little companion who is looking for someone to share life with every step of the way. Marita spent many years as a mama dog in a puppy mill and is now discovering what it means to be loved, safe, and part of a family. One thing is certain: Marita does not enjoy being alone. She thrives when she has her people nearby and would love to be your constant sidekick, whether you're working from home, running errands, relaxing on the couch, or heading out for a walk. Rita has done well in a foster home with another friendly dog who has helped her feel secure and continues building her confidence. Marita is doing wonderfully with potty training when she is taken outside regularly. She also walks beautifully on a leash, happily trotting along beside you despite her short little legs. While Marita is still learning to trust people completely, she continues to make progress every day. She may not be a full-time cuddle bug yet, but she wants to be close to her people and is becoming more affectionate as she realizes she is finally safe. Marita gets along wonderfully with cats and has proven to be a respectful and easygoing housemate. She is also not afraid to use her voice when something doesn't seem right in her world. If she notices something unusual, she'll let you know with a bark or two. As a result of severe dental disease from her years of breeding, Rita no longer has any teeth. Don't let that fool you, though-she still enjoys life to the fullest and doesn't let it slow her down one bit. Sometimes her little tongue peeks out when she's napping- which is completely adorable. Marita is a gentle soul with a huge heart, looking for a patient family willing to give her the love, companionship, and security she has always deserved. In return, she'll be your devoted little shadow, following you wherever life takes you.
